Spain: the Bible for the young” “

The “Catholic Bible for Youth” runs to 1,730 pages. It is a version of the Bible in Spanish, produced in partnership between Spain and America to give a response to the many requests of the young. “The Bible will help you to evaluate the Catholic tradition; it will give you encouragement in difficulties and help you to understand the Word of God”: that’s the message of the editors (Divine Word in Spain and Fe y Vida Institute in the USA) who have worked for years to insert comments based on Latin-American, indigenous and Hispanic cultures in a Bible that explains some key concepts to the young in clear and direct language. For example: what is cycle A? What is meant by the lamb or the boat in the tradition? What are the sacraments and how are they biblically justified? The editors explain how to read and cite the text, which has received the “Nihil Obstat”, i.e. “the official declaration that a book is free from doctrinal and moral errors according to the teachings of the Catholic Church”. Drawings, tables and explanatory material help children to understand the teachings of the Bible. The basic text is taken from the Bible of America, approved by the Bishops’ Conference of Mexico.
