“What do we propose? A series of artistic and cultural events in the Parisian quarter of Marais and its environs, expressing the link between beauty, humanity and spirituality”. The so-called Marais Chrétien is a group that works in the French capital under the aegis of the municipal administration and of the archbishop. For the eighth consecutive year, it is promoting, from 11 to 20 March, a ‘grand happening’ in one of the best known quarters of central Paris: some forty cultural events, including concerts, films, exhibitions, lectures, visits, and special programmes for children will enliven the quarter’s public places, churches and cinemas. The organizers explain that the aim is “to involve a huge public, without barriers of faith, confession, educational level or financial means”. The many volunteers (youth, adult laypeople, sisters, priests) who have long been involved in the preparation for Marais Chrétien 2005 include Catholics, Lutherans, Evangelics and Orthodox. “We want they explain to foster the living resources of Christian faith in our country by respecting all religions”. The programme for all the events in the festival can be consulted on the website www.maraischretien.free.fr.
