Inflation rises again in the eurozone” “

Inflation shows no signs of abating in the EU countries. That’s what emerges from the latest estimates published by Eurostat, the statistics office of the European Union, according to which the rate of inflation relating to the twelve states of the eurozone rose to 2% at February 2005, against the 1.9% registered for January. The same figure was registered for annualised average inflation, though this ought to remain within the ceiling of 2% fixed as a benchmark by the European Central Bank. The calculations – based on the index of consumer prices of the twelve eurozone countries and the cost of energy for domestic and commercial consumption – regard the overall average of the Eurozone. The European Commission in Brussels will publish the final and detailed figure for each individual country on 16 March. For further information, go to: http://europa.eu.int/comm/eurostat/
