During the meeting of Ministers of Culture of the States that form part of the Euro-Med Partnership, held in Rome in early February, the European Commission announced the introduction of a Prize for Journalism, which will be awarded for the best articles relating to the cultural heritage in Euro-Mediterranean relations. The competition, funded by the “Euro-Med Heritage” programme, is open to young journalists below the age of 35 coming from the Twenty-Five or the Euro-Med States who have published an article in a national daily, monthly or magazine between March 2004 and May 2005. The themes covered by the competition are various: from historical and archaeological sites to museums and libraries; from oral traditions to local arts and crafts, without forgetting the heritage of music, theatre and dance. The two finalists will receive a cash prize of 3000 Euros as well as a free trip to visit one of the EuroMed sites of their choice.
