“No prayer is in vain”, said the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Teoctist, at the end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which ended in the patriarchal cathedral of Bucharest with an ecumenical celebration attended by representatives of the Romanian Orthodox, Catholic and Greek-Catholic, Reformed, Armenian, Evangelic Lutheran and Presbyterian Churches. Patriarch Teoctist expressed regret about the “lack of unity between Christians and the straying of contemporary man from Christ, light of the world, foundation of faith and of the Church”. “The prayer of this evening promised Monsignor Ioan Robu, archbishop and metropolitan of Bucharest will continue in our Churches for the gift of unity. The Weeks of Prayer for Christian Unity are seeds sown in the ground that will bear fruit. We believe in the invisible work of the Holy Spirit, and in the strength of prayer”.
