Framework decision on racism” “

A European regulation on racism and xenophobia is approaching adoption. The current Luxembourg Presidency of the European Council has announced that it wants to submit the proposed framework decision to the Council of Ministers of the Interior and Justice in February. The parliamentary process of the measure has almost been completed, as confirmed during a recent public audition held by the Commission for civil liberties of the European Parliament. The Minister of Justice of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden, promised the commitment of his government to completing the provision, though not excluding some further amendment, including the possible insertion in the final text of a total ban on Nazi symbols in the wider framework of “everything connected with racism and anti-semitism, in view of the extreme importance of the question, both at the political and legal levels”.
