For the first time, the Christian Churches of France are organizing together an “ecumenical summer university”, which will be held in Provence from 22 to 27 August 2006 for youths aged between 20 and 30. It will have as its theme “Christ our hope: in a plural world, let us trace paths of hope!”. Some 300 youths Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox will try to understand the challenges of the contemporary world and identify paths of hope in the light of the Gospel with the help of experts, representatives of the Churches of Africa, America and Europe and exponents of the Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic Churches. The project for the ecumenical summer university enjoys the support of nine associations, including Chemin Neuf, the French Bible Alliance, and the Youth and Missions Network. The aim of the University says a communiqué is to help young people to discover Christ by “meeting him in the dynamism of Christians from all over the world and entering into a dynamic of ecumenical communion, mission, sharing of the faith, prayer and celebration”.
