Belgium: Catholic song festival” “

The second annual festival of the composition of Catholic songs, Cathocréazic, will be held at Tournai in Belgium on 12 November. Numerous Catholic singers and bands, ranging from punk rock to pop folk, from blues to funk and pure rock, will alternate on the stage from 10 in the morning to 11 at night. “It’s a festival unique of its kind in Belgium”, explains one of the organizers, Christian Herstens, “It’s a song contest in which the music expresses the faith of the performers. But this does not prevent other people from coming to listen to good music. The diversity of the musical tendencies on show will be able to satisfy the tastes of a wide public ranging from children to those with grey hair”. The event will also be characterised by spiritual interludes, especially the eucharistic celebration in the afternoon, animated by a choir and officiated by Abbot Oliver Frölich. “Songs are the fruit of prayer – concludes Herstens -, it’s impossible to sing in a convincing manner unless one is convinced inside, and unless one has a life of prayer”.
