The President of the German Bishops’ Conference, Cardinal Karl Lehmann, presented Benedict XVI with a bronze statue of St. Boniface in the Vatican on 21 October. Lehmann expressed “gratitude and great joy” at being able to donate the statue to the pope two months after the end of WYD in Cologne. On the previous day, 20 October, news had been released of the issue of a DVD with the title “Benedict: the 20th WYD 2005″, produced by the Westdeutsche Rundfunk (WDR) and the WDR mediagroup licensing GmbH in cooperation with the WYD organizing office. The official DVD of Word Youth Day which will go on sale in German and English in mid-November contains 120 minutes of reportages, documents, commentaries and clips from live coverage of the event transmitted by the WDR television channel during WYD. Part of the proceeds of the sale of the DVD will help finance WYD.
