The first “sectorial dialogue” on the question of climate change in Europe was held at the seat of the Committee of the Regions in Brussels on 6 October. In the presence of international experts on various aspects of climate change and its causes, the sessions of work permitted the regional and local authorities competent in the field of EU environmental policy to acquire important information for the application of the Kyoto Protocol on greenhouse gas emissions and on the correct measures for the implementation of the European and national provisions deriving from it. Particular attention was dedicated to future scenarios and to the environmental policy decisions necessary to avoid levels of pollution such as to cause negative changes for the environment.
