An Iranian delegation of the “Islamic Culture and Relations Organisation” (ICRO) will visit Switzerland from 27 to 30 September. It will be received by the committee of work on “Islam” of the Swiss Bishops’ Conference, and hold meetings in Zurich, Bern, Lausanne and Geneva. Lastly the delegation will participate in a series of talks at the Abbey of Einsiedeln. The visit is announced by the Conference of Swiss Bishops in a communiqué issued today at the end of its ordinary Assembly held from 5 to 7 September. During their assembly, the bishops discussed various questions, including the participation of Swiss youth in World Youth Day (“a deep religious experience”) and the death of frère Roger (“pioneer of ecumenism”). The bishops lastly recommended the reading of the new Compendium of the catechism, a “good way they say of learning the doctrine of the Catholic Church in an abbreviated way and in question and answer format”.
