Bishops, experts in communication, spokespersons of the 34 Bishops’ Conferences of Europe and representatives of Catholic organizations for communication will meet in Warsaw from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 September 2005 to discuss the theme “ Who creates the view youth have of reality?”. Hosted by the archbishop Leszek Slawoj, who is responsible for the media in the Polish Bishops’ Conference, the meeting is being promoted by the European Episcopal Commission for the Media (Ceem). It will be attended by experts, “media producers” for the youth world and some young delegates who will intervene on the relation between the media, the language of youth and the transmission of the faith. The president of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, Archbishop John P. Foley, and the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Monsignor Józef Kowalczyk, will also participate in the debate. The conference will be preceded by the annual meeting of press officers and spokespersons of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe who will discuss various questions including the Catholic press agencies, the network of webmasters of the Bishops’ Conferences, the media impact of WYD, and information and John Paul II.
