The Swiss Bishops’ Conference has made an appeal to the country’s journalists to follow with attention the forthcoming World Youth Day in Cologne, in which over 1550 youth from the country’s three language regions (German, French and Italian) will participate. “The preparations for this world event are in progress declares Monsignor Denis Theuerillat, bishop delegate for youth ministry within the Swiss episcopate and some 4000 journalists will be accredited to the event”. To ensure good collaboration and media coverage of the meeting, the bishop recommends journalists to “contact and interview Swiss youngsters visiting Cologne so as to explore every aspect of this world event”. The youth delegates of the three language areas are available for this purpose (www.kath.ch). The majority of Swiss youth will leave for Cologne by bus on 15 August, while the Swiss bishops have called a press conference chaired by Bishop Theuerillat himself on 19 August.
