Some progress has been made in dialogue between Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican and Old Catholic Churches: at the meeting of the Commission of Churches in dialogue of the Conference of European Churches (CEC), held at Tallin, in Estonia, from 8 to 12 June, a work group was set up that will prepare a consultation on dialogue in 2008. In the preparation of the document and of further publications in support of the consultation, four areas of work have been identified: “ascertaining the potential and interconnections of bilateral and multilateral dialogue; establishing criteria to measure the progress made regarding the main theological themes in the already existing dialogue; evaluating the methods of dialogue; and formulating proposals for concrete steps that may lead to an improvement in the process of reception by the Churches”. “This new impetus is welcome – commented Elizabeth Fisher, co-moderator of the Commission -. We ask CEC-member Churches to give all possible support”. The CEC is a network of 125 Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican and Old Catholic Churches from all the countries of Europe, plus 40 associated organizations.
