The European Conference of Missionary Childhood (ECMC) was held in Luxembourg from 26 to 29 March. The meeting, with the title “Children of Abraham-Interfaith dialogue”, was prepared by representatives of the secretariats of the Pontifical Mission-Aid Societies for Childhood in the English-speaking countries (Ireland, England and Scotland) in collaboration with Jean Lazarus, President of the ECMC. The programme included interventions by Sister Victoria Hummel, who has taught for 16 years in the Catholic school of Westminster for interfaith dialogue and who spoke on the Church’s relation with non-Christian religions and the dialogue with Islam, and Sister Clare Jardine, secretary of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conference of England for relations between Jews and Catholics, who presented a report on “Meeting and dialogue with Jews”. Ample space was dedicated to the work groups and the exchange of ideas and experiences between the participants who came from all over Europe. There were also moments of prayer and cultural interludes, including a visit to the Synagogue of Luxembourg.
