The quality of Eu products in the world

Wine, cheese, fruit, vegetables and meat, all rigorously of high quality: they are the “export products” of European agriculture for which the Commission has approved new measures of information and promotion outside the Community. The measures in question consist of 8 programmes – for a total budget of 16.4 million euros, of which half covered by Eu funding – involving a total of 22 third countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, India, Norway, Russia, USA, Switzerland, Ukraine, plus 6 Asian and 5 Middle Eastern countries. Italy and Greece, with three programmes each, are the main protagonists in the promotion abroad of European quality farm products. The remaining two programmes are assigned respectively to Portugal – with a single measure for wine – and a Franco-Italian consortium. The programmes also represent the ideal way of informing foreign trade partners about the specific features and guarantees of EU systems of origin for agricultural products (DOP, IGP and STG).
