JOHN PAUL II

Spain: music, art and animated cartoons

A big concert organized by youth to commemorate John Paul II will be held in the Hispanic-American basilica of the Mercede in Madrid on 31 March. The event is being jointly promoted by the Los Cabos Art Centre, David Radio, David Multifestival and La Raíz Productions. “The concert is a gift to the Holy Father”, explain the organizers, who ask that it be prepared “with prayers, testimonies and songs”. At Móstoles a tribute to the late Pope will be held, again on the 31st, in the Kaleidoscope Social and Cultural Centre; tickets for the event, free of charge, can be collected from the parish of the Divine Pastor. The event is being promoted by the archpriest of Móstoles, in the diocese of Getafe. Prayer meetings on the evening of 2nd April have also been organized in many other dioceses. Meanwhile, two sculptures dedicated to John Paul II are already visible on the streets of Madrid, while in Barcelona an international production company of animated cartoons has created the DVD “John Paul II, friend of all humanity”, which will be officially presented on 2nd April and translated into Italian, English and Polish, as well as the official languages in Spain (Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque).
