The initiative is that of the charity of pontifical rights “Aid to the Church in Need” (ACN), which from its headquarters in Königstein has placed on line (on www.kirche-in-not.de/kinderbibel) translations into Arabic, Chinese and Turkish of the Bible for children. The operation was made possible also thanks to the collaboration of the German Liturgical Institute. Consultation of the Bible is very easy, explains the head of ACN’s office for the family, Maria Zurowski: “It’s important to be able to offer web pages that can easily be consulted by children. We have paired a symbol with each function, and children can choose the language they wish from a map of the world. The printout of individual chapters and the on-line ordering of additional material are also possible. ACN, founded in 1947, annually raises over 70 million dollars through 17 national secretariats to respond to over 8,000 requests for aid from 130 Churches. The funds are allocated to the training of priests, the construction and maintenance of seminaries and churches, translations of the Bible and other religious texts, and the production of radio programmes with a religious content.
