New funds for agricultural promotion” “

The European Commission has approved 25 programmes, presented by fourteen member states (Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Hungary, Austria, Holland, Poland, Sweden, Finland and the United Kingdom), aimed at contributing to information and promotion relating to European agricultural products: the total of the EU co-financing has been increased to 25.5 million euros. The projects, in principle aimed at the promotion of quality farm produce, extend to the following sectors: organic farm produce, oils, milk and milk derivatives, cheese, meat, wine, fruit and vegetables, flowers and potatoes. The duration of the projects will be comprised between twelve and thirty-six months. France with 5 projects assigned took the lion’s share of the funds (over a quarter of the overall financial allocation), followed by Italy, Germany and Belgium with three projects each. Among the new accession states, only Hungary, Poland and Cyprus presented proposals that were judged meritorious.
