“A pause to breathe” in the hectic pre-Christmas rush, fifteen minutes of reflection and prayer; that’s the initiative of the church of St. Ludwig in Speyer, which from 4 to 23 December is proposing an ecumenical prayer organized by the city’s Evangelical and Catholic communities from Monday to Saturday, between 12.15 and 12.30. The ecumenical preparation for Advent, introduced in 1995, represents a pause for reflection in which it is possible to prepare oneself for Christmas in a suitable way, amid Bible readings, prayers, music and silence. A similar initiative is also being offered by the Alte Kirche of St. Ingbert, in Saarpfalz, which, each afternoon, proposes ten minutes of “meditation during Advent”, from Monday to Friday, between 4 and 22 December”, to be spent in silence and reflection. This too is an ecumenical initiative, organized by the Catholic and Evangelical communities.
