European Enterprise Awards to support business

The final verdict of the “European Enterprise Awards” competition is expected to be announced on Thursday 7 December. The awards will be presented to the best projects entered by local authorities in support of business enterprise at the regional level. A statement put out by the European Commission declares that the projects short-listed to enter the finals of the European Enterprise Awards are “very varied in type. They are projects that have successfully supported business enterprise from one end of Europe to the other”. A jury has selected the best projects from 51 national candidates: the finalists come from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Sweden and United Kingdom. Günter Verheugen, Vice-President of the Commission and Commissioner for Business and Industry, says: “Europe has a need for more entrepreneurs and more people with an entrepreneurial mentality. Here we can see concrete and creative examples in which the European regions and cities encourage and support businesses, and help them to achieve success in their activities”.
