Spain: invitation to the Youth Mission of Madrid

With a pastoral letter the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, has invited parishes, rectors of churches, directors of colleges and university centres, presidents and officeholders of church associations and movements to participate in the Youth Mission to be held in Madrid during the pastoral year 2006-2007 “with the objective of transmitting faith in Christ to the younger generations”. It is, writes the cardinal, “an inspiring task to which we are all called”. The cardinal recalls that Youth Week will be celebrated from 8 to 12 November, round the solemnity of the Virgin of Almudena. It’s a time, he said, in which “we want to invite the young to become responsible for transmitting the faith to their friends and companions and to celebrate the joy of being followers of Christ in the world today”. “I am sure – concludes Cardinal Rouco Varela – that if all of us place ourselves at the service of the Gospel, we shall be witnesses of a new springtime in the life of the Church”.
