The culture of coexistence

The XL Social Week of Spain in the European scenario

Among the 2nd and the 5th of November, will take place in the city of Toledo (Spain) the XL Social Week that commemorates the centennial of that day of May 1906, in which started the itinerary of this Institution, created to spread the Social Doctrine of the Church, offering light to continue and to channel the matters of the temporary order in the life of a community. From that beginning, and without another formal interruption that the resultant of the civil war (1936-1939), each celebration has taking place with continuity, although, sometimes accusing the problems of administrative character, of organizational matter, and why not, in occasions, also of doubts and of fears. However, the voice of the Weeks has never gone out, it always attempts and focus on the most sensitive problems affecting to the society in each moment. In this occasion, the topic cannot be more justified: Christian proposals for a culture of the coexistence. We live in a society that seeks to eliminate borders, but that it doesn’t get it; that seeks the universal peace, but that every day she wakes up with a new conflict. Is the cultural diversity, the cause of so much crisis? Or is the lack of love among the men the one that leads to the segregation and to the conflict? The Social Week of Spain, one of the Weeks that conform the European scenario and, in consequence, part of an integral wider initiative in Europe for the transmission of the Social Doctrine of the Church to the community of nations and of people, intends to confront with rigor and paying tribute to the revealed truth, the state of the said social question that, with reason, it can be considered as the most relevant Rerum Novarum of the present historical moment.
