The theme of the divine liturgy and the proclamation of the Gospel in the immense territories that stretch from Russia to Japan and Alaska is at the centre of the 14th international Ecumenical Conference of Orthodox Spirituality to be held at the Monastery of Bose (Biella, in Italy) from 14 to 20 September. Promoted under the auspices of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Patriarchate of Moscow, the conference continues a long tradition of ecumenical meetings, and is intended to provide an occasion for a brotherly exchange of views and common reflection, between Christians from the East and West, on essential aspects of spiritual life. Two sessions are on the programme, one Byzantine and the other Russian. Apart from leading international experts, the conference will be attended by metropolitans, bishops and monks of the Orthodox Churches, Catholic Church and Reformed Churches, including the apostolic nuncio in Moscow Antonio Mennini, Archbishop Ioann of Belgorod (Patriarchate of Moscow), and Metropolitan Ioannis of Thermopyli (Orthodox Church of Greece).
