Ukraine: Marian pilgrimage to Berdychiv

The 15th annual six-day pilgrimage of Ukrainian Catholics to the Marian sanctuary at Berdychiv took place from 10 to 16 July. The some 400 participants included Catholics from Ukraine, Russia, and even from Cameroon; 11 priests of various religious congregations of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine, 22 nuns and 15 seminarians. Each day, during the pilgrimage, the pilgrims listened to sermons, prayed together, and celebrated mass. On the final day, 16 July, the apostolic nuncio in Ukraine, Archbishop Ivan Jurkovic, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the crowning of the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Berdychiv, officiated a mass in the sanctuary. The first pilgrimage, promoted by the Capuchins, took place in 1992.
