Belgium: “Read, seen and listened to for you”

“Read, seen and listened to for you” is the title of a new page on the internet site of the Belgian Catholic Church (www.catho.be). It’s a section that contains reviews of books, films and works of art, complemented with a list of religious bookshops in the country. Each film or book is presented with an introductory file containing all the necessary information such as name of author or director, cast list, followed by a review. The last film reviewed was “Pirates”, while the books reviewed include “Derniers fragments d’un long voyage” (Last fragments of a long voyage) by Christianne Singer (1943-2007) recounting the last months in the life of the author who was suffering from an incurable illness. The section also contains a part dedicated to art exhibitions, such as that of paintings in the Cathedral of Saints Michel et Gudule in Brussels on the theme “Lumière et Intérorité” (light and interiority), edited by Pierre Deuse. The “Read, seen and listened to for you” service is closed with a page with the title “Did you know that…?”, explaining the origins and connotation of popular phrases and proverbs.
