Minsk: meeting on migration

The secretaries general of the 34 Bishops Conferences of Europe will meet in Minsk (Belarus) from 14th to 18th June for their 35th meeting which will deal with "Migration: a challenge for Europe". The meeting will also be attended by the apostolic nuncio to Belarus, mgr. Martin Vidoviæ, and the secretary general of Comece (Commission of the EU Bishops Conferences), mgr. Noël Treanor. Items on the agenda will include: the situation of the Catholic Church in Belarus; migration in the European countries, including crucial problems and consequences on the pastoral; the activities of Ccee and cooperation between the Bishops Conferences in Europe in urgent pastoral spheres, such as the media society, responsibility for the Creation, relations with Muslims, relations between Europe and Africa, the vocational pastoral. In addition, the problems of ecumenism – in particular the preparation of the delegations of the Bishops Conferences that will attend the Aee3 (Sibiu, 4-9 September) – and the European unification process 50 years after the Treaties of Rome. On June 15th the secretaries of the Bishops Conferences will meet the Metropolitan Bishop of Minsk and Slutsk, Filaret.
