“Spring of Europe 2007” has now in full swing. This is a project of the European Union that was introduced in 2003 and that has involved children and schools to “reflect, learn and make their own voice heard on European issues”. In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, the theme for this year’s event – which will end on 30 June – is “Together since 1957: schools celebrate Europe”. Students, classes or whole schools can participate in the event through the website www.springday2007.net and the corresponding blog, posing questions and presenting thoughts and proposals to which, in the form of chat, the current protagonists of European unification will reply at the local, national and EU level. It is still possible to organize competitions, exhibitions and debates in videoconference and on line, using the facilities made available to this end by the branch offices of the Commission and European Parliament in the member states.
