Scotland: children and the “world of the Bible”

“Moses and the Jews wandered for forty years in the wilderness; Jesus was tempted for forty days; the primary school of St. Gregory in Wyndford has been making the light of knowledge shine out anew for forty years”, declare the promoters of “Bibleworld” in explaining the reasons why the school celebrated in recent weeks its own anniversary with this Bible project. “Bibleworld” is a mobile laboratory that presents the “Good news” in a way geared to the 21st century, permitting children to experience the Bible as an attractive and dynamic book with an assortment of films and interactive programmes, computer applications and activities for children”. It’s “an extraordinary means of education”, said the parish priest of St. Gregory, Fr. Joseph Macule, pointing out that “during the week the laboratory was visited by many priests and it would be worthwhile for people of other backgrounds to go to see it as well”. During the eucharistic celebration officiated by Archbishop Mario Conti of Glasgow in the school, the pupils renewed together their baptismal vows to the archbishop. On the same occasion, the children made their own contribution to the SCIAF (Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund run by the Scottish Bishops’ Conference), to support the education of children in the poorer areas of the world.
