The closing session of the diocesan inquest on the life, virtues and fame of sanctity of the Servant of God John Paul II will take place in the basilica of St. John Lateran on Monday, 2nd April. The announcement has been made by Cardinal Camillo Ruini, Vicar of the Pope for the diocese of Rome, in a letter addressed to the priests, deacons, men and women religious and lay faithful of the diocese of Rome, following the communication received from the Postulator of the cause of beatification and canonization of the late-lamented Pope, Monsignor Slawomir Oder. The opening session of the diocesan inquest had been held in the same basilica on 28 June 2005, less than three months after John Paul II’s death. At the end of the closing session of the diocesan inquest, an exhibition of drawings in honour of Karol Wojtyla by the artist Nani Tedeschi will be inaugurated in the courtyard of the Papal Palace at the Lateran. With the title “Totus Tuus. John Paul II in 60 drawings by Nani Tedeschi”, it will remain open till 1st June. On the same day, 2 April, Benedict XVI will preside over a requiem mass for John Paul II in St. Peter’s at 17:30. Cardinals Ruini and Sepe, Archbishop Comastri, and the distinguished bible scholar Monsignor Ravasi are just some of the contributors to the special number of “Totus Tuus”, the postulation review due to be published by the diocese on 2nd April, to coincide with the closing session of the diocesan phase of the cause of beatification and canonization of John Paul II.
