Eu funds for justice, freedom and security

In the framework of the financial perspectives for the period 2007-2013, the College of Commissioners has defined the framework programme for the sector of Justice, Freedom and Security. The three key objectives will be developed on the basis of the principles of democracy, respect for rights and fundamental liberties and the rule of law, and will be accompanied by three framework programmes: 1) security and protection of civil liberties (endowed with a budget of 745 million euros); 2) fundamental rights and justice (542.90 million euros); 3) solidarity and control of migration (4020.37 million euros). The first programme is divided into two sub-programmes: prevention of fight against crime, on the one hand, and prevention, preparation and control of terrorism and other risks linked to security, on the other. The programme on fundamental rights and justice is divided into five sub-programmes: citizenship; civil justice; penal justice; prevention and combat of violence against children, adolescents and women, and the protection of the victims and groups at risk (Daphne III); and prevention and information on drugs. The solidarity and migration programme will benefit from the contribution of four different European Funds entered in the EU general budget, to which all member states with the exception of Denmark contribute: the Fund for Refugees, the Fund for External Frontiers, the Fund for Repatriation and the Fund for the Integration of Citizens of Third Countries.
