Polond: no to in vitro fertilization

The Council for the family of the Polish Bishops Conference issued a letter to all Polish senators and MPs elected past 21 October, whereby “in the context of the recent statements by the representatives of the Polish government on artificial insemination in vitro it recalls the Magisterium of the Church on this subject”. The letter, signed by Msgr. Kazimierz Gorny, President of the Council for the family, and by the national director of Family Pastoral Care Father Andrzej Rebacz, reaffirms that “ in primis – every attempt at artificial insemination with that method entails the death of numerous embryos, and therefore that method is a refined kind of abortion; secundum – every son has the right to be born of the act of conjugal love of his parents; and tertium – a son isn’t an object and not even the future parents can affirm to have a right over him, even less so when that right is paid with the death of his brothers and sisters”. Lastly, the authors of the letter recall that one cannot say to “have the right to have children” since “rights can be claimed over objects but not over people!”
