Luxembourg: for an accessible dwelling

“A guaranteed fund for rents and dwelling situation monitoring”, these are the objectives of the diocesan Commission Diaconie and of the Caritas (Cddc) in Luxembourg which for the past months have been engaged in discussing the lodging situation in the Country. In fact the Sozialwort (report on the social situation), focused on the dwelling situation, dates back to May. In the document the Church had identified a series of priorities: “to employ and transfer property for the common good and for society”; “promote generation change”; “make housing facilities available to all”. In order to achieve these goals, in the past days the Cddc issued a communiqué illustrating a series of concrete initiatives such as the concrete support to the creation of a guarantee fund for rents; the monitoring of the dwelling situation in Luxembourg through the collection of information – made public in January 2008 – on administration procedures, state subsidies, projects and contracts.
