“The inevitable stress?” is the title of the Christmas message of the Archbishop of Malines-Brussels, Cardinal Godfried Danneels, that will be published in the days ahead. The cardinal, according to the Belgian Catholic press agency Cathobel, aims in his Christmas message to tackle the effects of stress on individuals, on the family and on the Church. “Spiritual exhaustion” – says Danneels – also takes place in the personal life of the Christian, in the parish and in the community. He tackles the question in a convincing way, also suggesting a “therapy”: how can you cure yourself from stress? How can you make your family happier? How can you reconcile personal sadness with your experience of spiritual life? With an approach at once realistic and spiritual, Cardinal Danneels holds out his hand to those who feel themselves oppressed by the burden of life. The message will be available from the press office of the archdiocese from mid-December and can be requested from: maria.peters@diomb.be or through the liturgical centres and religious bookshops of the diocese.
