United Kingdom: “at home for Christmas”

“Go back home for Christmas is the title of the new campaign organized by the “Catholic Agency to support evangelization”, of the Bishops Conference of England and Wales to welcome all those Catholic who didn’t enter a Church for years. Begun the first Sunday of the Advent, the initiative intends to reach out to hundreds of thousands of Catholics who go to mass only on Christmas. Posters and leaflets in Parishes throughout the U.K. will tell the faithful “whatever is your story the door of the Church is always open for you” and a message to them will be sent by Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, archbishop of Westminster and primate of England and Wales. “Dear friends, a warm welcome awaits you. We are interested in your story and wish to learn from your experience, when you decide it’s the right moment, you will be important and loved members of the Body of Christ. Come”. These words by the Primate will be available also on your mobiles for those who will send an sms to the address indicated on posters and leaflets. The campaign is having great success, as testified by the evangelization Agency which up to now got requests for over 100.000 posters, leaflets and messages. “It was a privilege to see the openness to undertake our initiative by the Catholic groups and communities we contacted”, said Msgr. Keith Barltrop, director of the Agency.
