ADVENT 2007

France: a cyber-retreat

Advent, time for hope, peace and solidarity. The days preceding Christmas follow these three directives in France as envisaged by Pax Christi which adds to the traditional charitable initiatives other special ones such as the spiritual “Cyber-retreat”. From December 2, 2007 until January 13, 2008, every Sunday of the Advent, those who will send their request to paxchristi.retraite2007@orange.it, will daily receive a passage from the Bible, the homily with the guide for the retreat, a prayer for peace and a good deed to be done. An Internet retreat to devote time to essentials. Every day participants can talk with a priest, send their prayers and personal reflections. For the third year running prayers are integrated with environmental commitments thanks to the work of 18 Christian associations whose slogan this year is “Living Christmas differently”. The purpose of the initiative is the recovery of “the profound significance of eating together seated around the same table. Since, each time we sit around a table we share with others the fruits of the earth and the work of man.” A series of market fairs will be selling environment-friendly products, such as handicraft objects created in the respect of human and labour rights. In Strasbourg there will be music watches and exhibition such as those by seven Alsatian artists whose works are inspired to the prologue of the Gospel of John.
