Fight Against Terrorism

The Community’s executive board adopted a new set of proposals aimed at increasing EU’s potential in the fight against terrorism on three major topics: training and recruiting criminalization for terrorist purposes and instigation to commit acts of terrorism; prevention in the use of explosives; data on airplane passengers. In the awareness that “terrorism continues to represent a threat to the political foundations of the EU and for he life and the well-being of its citizens”, the EU Commissioner to Justice and Security Franco Frattini affirmed that Europe “cannot rest on its laurels but has to seek a balance between awareness of a threat while proposing amendments to the framework provision on fight against terrorism with a series of actions towards the financial and propaganda supporters of terrorist groups supported by an action plan to improve security of explosives and the institution of the European system of data exchange (PNR)”. This set of rules is completed by an Assessment Report on Community measures undertaken until today.
