Award to European Citizenship

Ten were the projects which the EU awarded with a Golden Star during the Forum for Europe for 2007 citizens and intercultural dialogue for “having encouraged in an exemplary way citizens’ active participation to EU-related projects”, especially as relates to civil society and city twinning. During the ceremony, Ian Flegl, the Commissioner in charge of education, training, culture and youth declared that “thanks to the expression of an inspiring and unifying Europe capable of communicating a message of tolerance and mutual understanding, it will be possible to create a large European family founded on common values such as equal opportunities and democratic dialogue”. The following projects were awarded with the Golden Star: Learning in Immigration Society, (European Immigration Centre, Germany); How to become an active European citizen (Centre for Community Organization, Check Republic); Communicating European values in Greece (Foundation for Foreign and European politics, Greece); The Baltic Youth on the road towards Enlargement (European Home, Sweden); Overcoming prejudice (United Initiatives for Religion in Europe, Belgium); Energy Preservation and Natural Resources (United Kingdom, France); Same Citizenship and different Origins (France and Slovakia); Citizens without Borders (Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Holland); European Week (Germany, United Kingdom, France, Poland); Solidarity in Europe, Ideas and friendships (Poland, Germany, Hungary, France, Russia and Denmark).
