Closer relations and encounter between children makes “understanding and friendship between the various communities and faiths deeper and more conscious” and represents “a further piece of the mosaic of peaceful co-existence, respect and solidarity between the children of Abraham”. With this objective in mind, Catholic Action of the Region of Tuscany, the Jewish and Islamic communities of Florence and Tuscany, the Evangelical and Orthodox Churches and Catholic dioceses of the region will hold a joint event in Florence on Sunday 21 October. It is called “Life’s more wonderful together”. The meeting, to which children aged from 6 to 14 are invited, will be held throughout the day and includes a series of visits to the various Christian churches of Florence, and to the synagogue and mosque of the city. The host communities will describe the characteristics of these places of worship to the children. The day will end at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence where the groups of the various religious confessions will pray, sing, and testify together, punctuated with animations and musical performances. The final event of the day will be a ceremony at which the children will hand over a message to the civil and religious authorities.
