The Pontifical Holy Childhood Mission Society of Ireland has promoted and organized the first national Day of Prayer for Children, due to be celebrated on 12 October. Details of the Day of Prayer were communicated to the Fides International Press Agency by the national director of Holy Childhood in Ireland, Father Ed Grimes. The Archbishop of Dublin, the Right Rev. Diarmuid Martin, has presented the missionary material prepared for the Day: it includes a poster, a prayer, a mass for children in need, and a guide for the recitation of the missionary rosary. Supporting the initiative, the Archbishop of Dublin declared that “in prayer we express the hope for a more just and peaceful world in which children can touch the hearts of us all through the witness of the particular gifts of childhood: innocence, goodness and hope for the future. If all us – parents, teachers and children – work together, the Day of Prayer will be a wonderful occasion for inspiring all of us to work for a world that may give to all children the hope of a future worthy of praise”.
