Germany: an internet site dedicated to the family

The website of the archdiocese of Munich for the family was presented on 25 July. On the address www.erzbistum-muenchen.de/familie it is possible to access information on all the activities in support of the family provided by the various offices of the archdiocese. Services subdivided by age groups are described on the website. For infants aged 0 to 3 there are over 800 parent-children groups in the parishes, coordinated by volunteers of the archdiocese. For children up to the age of 14 there are 573 structures run by the Church. 12,000 boys and girls attend the senior secondary schools run by the archdiocese. Proposals ad hoc for single-parent families are also available, with counselling services, educational courses and seminars. Various centres of spiritual assistance dedicated to the family exist, especially those dedicated to the assistance of the disabled and the unemployed. There are also the diocesan Caritas centres. Activities and services for the elderly and for those in need of care are also provided: 60 hospices for the elderly, 80 day-care centres and social welfare centres, as well as 200 structures for the disabled and 10 hospitals. The declared aim of the new website is to described the various services provided by the archdiocese in a systematic and user-friendly way, with a series of links that provide direct access to the service desired.
