A course on the Pope’s thought

A summer school on the thought and teaching of Benedict XVI on the second anniversary of his pontificate is being run by the “Re Juan Carlos” University at Aranjuez (Madrid) from 23 to 27 July. The seminar was opened with a report by the Bishop of Pamplona, Fernando Sebastián, on “The renewal of the Church in the though of Benedict XVI”. Other speakers included, on 24 July, Cardinal Paul Poupard, who reflected on “Religions and Christianity”, and Monsignor Angelo Amato, secretary of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, who spoke of “Jesus of Nazareth in the Christology of Benedict XVI”. The seminar will end today with interventions from Gustavo Villapalos Salas, Professor at the Complutense University in Madrid, who will present a report on “Being Christian in the secular West”, and Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, Archbishop of Madrid, who will speak on “Benedict XVI and the Christian roots of Europe”.
