Promotion of EU farm products

The European Commission has communicated the approval of 23 programmes relating to the organization of campaigns of information and promotion of EU agricultural products, for a total budget of 77.7 million euros down to 2009. The programmes -which will be developed in Germany, France, Greece, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Holland, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Portugal – cover biological products, quality and denomination of origin, dairy products, white meat, wine, fruit and vegetables and honey. According to the European Commissioner for Agriculture Mariann Fischer Boel, “the food products of the European Union are of unique quality and diversity. Within an ever more open world market, we must redouble our efforts to raise the awareness of consumers, knowing as we do that it is no longer enough to produce quality foods and drinks: we also need to market them in an intelligent way”. Organizations in the sector can present new promotional proposals by 30 November.
