An exhibition of over 100 icons produced over the last ten years by the Salesian iconographic workshop at Farnières was inaugurated in recent days in the Don Bosco Centre of Spirituality at Grand-Halleux, in Belgium. The workshop, directed by Sister Hilda Cartigny, is attended by many youngsters who are introduced to the basic techniques of icon painting and also to the spirituality of the Christian tradition of the East, to the meditation of the Gospel and to prayer; in this way this project “becomes a real school of catechesis and spirituality”. The exhibition can be visited every Sunday until 24 September. From 6 to 15 August the “atelier” of iconography is also promoting a course for those who want to learn about this religious art. To remain in the youth field, the foundation, at the end of June, of a coordination of Catholic youth clubs with the support of the Council of Catholic Youth should be pointed out. During a meeting at Louvain-la-Neuve the movements that operate in society and their commitment at the diocesan level were presented; diocesan reflection of this theme will lead to a meeting of the coordination group scheduled for 7 December 2007.
