France: World Missionary Week

World Missionary Week will be celebrated in France from 14 to 21 October. It will culminate in World Missionary Day on Sunday, 21 October. News of the missionary week is carried by the Fides international press agency, which reports that all parishes and movements in France, each according to its own ecclesial role, are invited to campaign and raise funds during this Week to offer the necessary resources to the dioceses that are most lacking in them. The Missionary Week, which is being held on the initiative of the Pontifical Mission-Aid Societies of France, will have as its theme “Transmit the Word you’ve received”. As a communiqué of the national directorate of the Pontifical Mission-Aid Societies of France reports, “the Missionary Week “urges us to continue the great tradition of aid to missions begun in France by Pauline Jaricot and such figures as St. Thérèse de Lisieux, the 80th anniversary of whose proclamation as Patron of Missions is being celebrated this year”. To mark the anniversary, a series of celebrations, prayer meetings, educational courses and the sharing of experiences are being organized, involving parishes, religious congregations, movements and Missionary Childhood. Aids for the Missionary Week will shortly be available: posters, brochures, documentation, educational guidelines and calendars of events.
