A film festival comprising 43 films and numerous television transmissions from 14 countries, all presented from a Christian perspective, was held in recent days at Glubocom, in the province of Minsk. This was in fact the third year of the international Catholic film festival with the title “Magnificat”. It also included Orthodox productions. “We must ask ourselves more than ever who God is for us and what he means for our lives”, said the Bishop of Vitebsk, Vladislav Blin, at the end of the festival. “It is a source of joy – he added – so see so many films, DVDs and television programmes of Christian inspiration; these are initiatives that must be widely shown in parishes and in cultural centres and also on the Internet”. “The Church – concluded the bishop of Vitebsk – is very alert to the proper use of the means of communication to ensure they foster the interests of man and not those of the big media and publishing groups”.
