Austria: prayers on line for the Pope’s visit

The official confirmation came on 2 July – the Pope will make an apostolic journey to Austria, and in particular to the Marian sanctuary of Mariazell, from 7 to 9 September – and already prayer initiatives for the event are proliferating. Those who wish to offer their prayers can register on the website www.b16.at. The website is being promoted by the Pontifical mission-aid society Missio and the office for the pastoral care of vocations of the archdiocese of Vienna, together with many Catholic organizations. “Pray with us for a new experience of the love of God, to receive lasting fruits from the Pope’s visit, for all those who take part in the organization and preparation of the visit and for the Pope”, says the appeal. “Experience in other countries shows how strong are the impulses deriving from the Pope’s visit”, say the organizers. “Through prayer we want to prepare the ground for a fresh start for the Church in Austria”. The prayer to the Holy Spirit and other prayers are published on the website. By filling out the enrolment form on the home page, participants can receive on their own e-mail specific intentions for which to pray.
