The laicism is against democracy Over one-and-a-half million people gather in Madrid on December 30th for the “Feast of the Christian Families”. On the occasion, also the Pope sent a message to Spanish families. “Marriage and the family”-said Msgr. Ricardo Blázquez, President of Bishops Conference of Spain and bishop of Bilbao during the event- “are the nevralgic centre of humanity”, this is why “Christian families must be an example of love to other families”. The archbishop of Valencia, Msgr. Agustín García-Gasco, pointed out that “the culture of radical laicism” leads to the “disintegration of democracy”. More than this, “laicism is a deceipt and a swindle”, which lead to “desperation” since it facours “abortion, divorce and the ideologies which expect to manipulate the education of the youth”. Cardinal Antonio Cañizares, archbishop of Toledo and primate of Spain, remarked that “the foundations of the family are being shook” with “strong attacks” , this is why today safeguarding marriage is the first social problem”. The archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio María Varela, affirmed that the family “has the right to be protected by society and by the State”. Religious freedom at riskThe statements against the Catholic Church “are a serious attempt against the fundamental right to the freedom of religioun and of conscience”. The claim was made in Spain by the “Observatory for the freedom of Religion and Conscience” directed by Marcial Cuquerella, after the statements made by the Secretary of Spanish socialists who accused the Church of “fuelling unjustices”, since “the Pope, with his ideas, promotes the violence of gender and male chauvinism within Christian families”. The Observatory denounced a “political campaign against the Catholic Church undertaken by radical laicism which intends to censor all religious claims with the purpose of expelling religion from our society”. Cuquerella recalled that the idea of Christian family which many in Spain “are unable to unable to understand” brought to Madrid past December 30th “hundreds of thousands faithful”. According to the Observatory “the campaign radically attacks the religious freedom of Jews, Muslims and Christians”.The Church will not be in the sacristy “Surprise and perplexity” was expressed by the “Asociación Católica de Propagandistas” (whose charisma is the defense of the Magisterium and of the social doctrine of the Church in public life) for the “disproportionate reaction to the celebration of the Family Day”. “It is our duty – is written in a communiqué of the association- to defend the moral judgement which the Church hierarchy expresses with reference to its nature and mission. The forms of socio-political organizations cannot be impervious to the relevance of a confession such as the Catholic one”. For this reason, “the upsetting reactions and statements by the Socialist officers against the freedom of reunion and expression of Spanish Catholics are not indifferent to us”. For the association, “laicism denies to the Church the defense of its teachings. It expects to expose to a constant attacks thus leading it to depend from the benevolence of those who hold immense power”. We say ‘no’ to a Church which is forced to remain ‘in the sacristies’. “It’s possible to hope – continues the communiqué- that the Government and the party supporting it will faithfully abide by the Constitution”.Stop abortion increase”Abortion generates social violence”. The statement was made to Spain’s Catholic News Agency “Veritas” by Fernando García-Faria, President of the Association of Christian Doctors of Catalunia, after the Minister of Health and Consumption made known that 101.592 abortions were made in Spain. “Through abortion – García-Faria said – violence occurs in the first stage of life and spreads violence throughout the whole of society”. The President of the Association equally denounced that “public powers paved the way to these acts”. For García-Faria, “society is uder the effects of anesthesia and looks in the other direction”, acting towards abortion “as the passenger of Catalan railways who recently witnessed, without intervening, an aggression against a young woman”. On the same topic, the President of the Spanish Federation of the pro-life Associations, Alicia Latorre, told “Veritas” that the proportions of abortion in Spain are “a clear sign of the loss of social conscience, which we must recover at all costs”. On his part, the director of the “Life” Foundation Manuel Cruz, underlined that “the incessant increase in the number of abotions in Spain “is due to the fact that abortion is promoted, that this is a crime, and to promote a crime is another crime too”.
