Today, Sunday 21 August, is the final day of the 20th World Youth Day. Benedict XVI will be arriving at 9.15 at the Marienfeld area, "Mary’s field", where he will go round to greet the youth. The final celebration will begin at 10 in the presence of the Federal President, Horst Köhler, and of other civil and political authorities. The Pontiff will preside over the traditional Missa Mundi, with the individual liturgical parts being accompanied by the music and instruments of the five Continents. Mass will be jointly celebrated with German bishops and bishops from other Countries, besides the cardinals and bishops of the Pope’s retinue and many priests. At the Angelus the Pope will announce the next WYD and then music will be played by some groups up to 6 p.m. as the youth and pilgrims leave the area. Also Benedict XVI will return to Rome in the evening (his flight will leave at 7.15 p.m.), and he will then go to his residence of Castel Gandolfo.
