XX WYD: MGR. CLEMENS (PAPAL COUNCIL FOR LAITY), THE POPE AND THE YOUNG HIT IT OFF

"Benedict XVI has a style of his own, different from that of John Paul II, but yesterday, in his first big meeting with the young, he managed to conquer their hearts. I find his decision not to imitate anyone and be himself is an intelligent one. The young have understood and appreciated it". This is the comment on the Pope’s first walkabout with the boys ad girls of the XX World Youth Day, in Cologne yesterday afternoon, of mgr. Josip Clemens, Secretary of the Papal Council for Laity, who this morning attended the catechesis of mgr. Domenico Sigalini, at the Köln Arena in Cologne. In the meantime, the expectations for Saturday’s vigil are growing all the time. "I am sure an atmosphere of great warmth and affection will be created in Marienfeld as well – continues mgr. Clements –. Benedict XVI and the young have already hit it off".
